Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager plays a central role in keeping store operations on track every single day. From enforcing company standards to developing team members, the scope of this role touches nearly every aspect of the store’s performance.

  • Support the Store Manager in overseeing all daily retail store operations and acting as Manager on Duty (MOD) when the Store Manager is absent
  • Ensure compliance by making certain that all team members understand, follow, and consistently apply company rules and regulations
  • Oversee inventory counts to ensure they are completed promptly and accurately, supporting proper resupply of goods
  • Enforce merchandising standards by ensuring established practices are followed throughout the store
  • Participate in recruitment and training activities to onboard new employees effectively
  • Manage team performance by applying strong leadership and communication skills in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Organize priorities efficiently to handle the shifting demands of store operations throughout the day

Requirements / Skills

Dollarama is looking for a candidate who brings proven retail management experience and can handle the pace of a high-traffic store. The right person is organized, decisive, and comfortable leading a team across varying shifts and operational demands.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the retail industry is required
  • Team management experience is essential for this leadership role
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities efficiently
  • Solid leadership and communication skills to guide and motivate store staff
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on store operational needs, including days, evenings, and weekends (40–50 hours weekly)
  • Physical capability including comfort with ladders, up and down movements, and heavy lifting
