Responsibilities
The Assistant Store Manager plays a hands-on role in the day-to-day functioning of the store. From supervising staff to maintaining inventory accuracy and upholding merchandising standards, this position requires someone who can juggle multiple priorities while keeping the team motivated and aligned with company expectations.
- Support the Store Manager in overseeing all daily retail store operations
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) in the absence of the Store Manager, making operational decisions as needed
- Enforce company policies by ensuring all team members understand and follow rules and regulations
- Conduct inventory counts in a prompt and accurate manner to support proper resupply of goods
- Maintain merchandising standards by ensuring established practices are consistently followed throughout the store
- Participate in recruitment and onboarding activities for new employees
- Train team members to ensure they are equipped to perform their roles effectively
- Organize priorities efficiently across a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment
Requirements / Skills
Dollarama is looking for a candidate with proven retail and leadership experience who can step confidently into a management role. The ideal person is organized, communicates clearly, and thrives under the demands of a high-volume retail setting.
- Minimum two years’ experience in the retail industry
- Team management experience — prior supervisory or leadership roles are strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to efficiently manage time and competing priorities
- Solid leadership and communication skills to guide and motivate a diverse team
- Availability to work 40–50 hours per week, including days, evenings, and weekends
- Physical capability to work with ladders, perform up-and-down movements, and handle heavy lifting
- Flexibility to travel within the assigned region as required
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
