About the Role: Assistant Store Manager

As an Assistant Store Manager at Dollarama, you’ll be a key part of the store’s leadership team. You’ll support the Store Manager in overseeing day-to-day retail operations, ensuring that company policies are clearly communicated and consistently followed by all team members. You’ll also take the lead on inventory management, making sure counts are completed accurately and on time to support proper restocking of merchandise.

Beyond operations, this role involves merchandising oversight and active participation in recruitment and training of new employees. You’ll be expected to lead by example, maintain high standards on the floor, and create a team environment where everyone understands their responsibilities and works together effectively.

Benefits and Salary

This Assistant Store Manager position at Dollarama offers a starting hourly wage of $19.30. The work schedule is determined based on store operational needs, with availability required across days, evenings, and weekends, including up to 40–50 hours weekly.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager plays a central role in keeping the store operating efficiently, whether the Store Manager is present or not. From managing people to maintaining inventory accuracy, this position touches nearly every aspect of retail store operations.

• Support the Store Manager in overseeing all daily retail store operations
• Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) in the absence of the Store Manager
• Communicate and enforce company rules and regulations to ensure all team members understand and comply
• Oversee inventory counts to ensure they are completed promptly and accurately, supporting proper resupply of goods
• Ensure merchandising practices are followed consistently throughout the store
• Participate in recruitment and training activities for new employees
• Lead the team by setting a strong example of professionalism and productivity on the floor

Requirements / Skills

Dollarama is looking for a candidate who has proven experience in retail and team management, with the organizational ability to juggle multiple priorities in a busy store environment. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for guiding a diverse team effectively.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the retail industry
• Experience in team management — leading, coaching, and motivating staff
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities efficiently
• Good leadership and communication skills to guide team members confidently
• Comfort with physical tasks including working with ladders, up-and-down movements, and heavy lifting
• Availability to work 40–50 hours per week, including days, evenings, and weekends
• Flexibility to travel within the assigned region when required
• Legal authorization to work in Canada
