About the Role: Assistant Store Manager
As the Assistant Store Manager at Dollarama in Halifax, you’ll work closely with the Store Manager to maintain smooth, efficient retail operations. Responsibilities
The Assistant Store Manager plays a central role in keeping store operations running smoothly on a daily basis. From enforcing company standards to managing stock levels and mentoring staff, this position covers a broad range of leadership responsibilities that directly impact the customer experience and store performance.
- Support the Store Manager in overseeing all daily retail store operations
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) in the absence of the Store Manager, making key operational decisions
- Ensure compliance with company rules and regulations by clearly communicating expectations to all team members
- Oversee inventory counts in a prompt and accurate manner to ensure proper resupply of goods
- Enforce merchandising standards to ensure established display and presentation practices are consistently followed
- Participate in recruitment and training activities for new employees
- Organize priorities efficiently and manage time effectively across competing store demands
Requirements / Skills
Dollarama is looking for a candidate with proven retail experience and genuine leadership ability. The ideal person is organized, communicates clearly, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment with variable hours including evenings and weekends.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the retail industry is preferred
- Team management experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities efficiently
- Good leadership and communication skills to effectively relay expectations and support team members
- Physical capability to work with ladders, perform up-and-down movements, and handle heavy lifting
- Availability to work 40–50 hours per week, including days, evenings, and weekends
- Flexibility to travel within the assigned region as needed
