As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll work closely with the Store Manager to keep things running smoothly — from inventory management and merchandising standards to staff training and recruitment. When the Store Manager isn’t on site, you step up as the Manager on Duty, making decisions and keeping the team on track.

About the Role: Assistant Store Manager

This position covers a wide range of store operations responsibilities. You’ll be ensuring that company policies are clearly communicated and consistently followed by all team members. You’ll also oversee inventory counts, making sure they’re done accurately and on time so shelves stay properly stocked and resupply runs without a hitch. On the merchandising side, you’ll make sure that established display and product placement standards are maintained throughout the store.

Beyond operations, you’ll play a hands-on role in team development — participating in hiring and training new employees. Your leadership and communication skills will be key in setting expectations, keeping morale up, and holding the team accountable. Benefits and Salary

This Assistant Store Manager position offers a wage ranging from $18.86 to $19.88 per hour. Work schedules are determined based on store operational needs, and the role requires availability for days, evenings, and weekends, with approximately 40 to 50 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Store Manager in overseeing all daily retail store operations
• Acting as Manager on Duty (MOD) in the absence of the Store Manager
• Communicating and enforcing company rules, regulations, and policies with all team members
• Overseeing inventory counts to ensure they’re completed accurately and in a timely manner for proper resupply
• Maintaining merchandising standards by ensuring established practices are consistently followed throughout the store
• Participating in recruitment and onboarding of new employees
• Training and developing team members to meet operational and performance expectations

Requirements / Skills

Dollarama is looking for a candidate who brings real retail management experience to the table and knows how to lead a team through a demanding, high-volume environment. Strong organizational skills and a hands-on leadership style are essential to success in this role.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the retail industry
• Team management experience — you’ve supervised or led a team before
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
• Solid leadership and communication skills to guide and support team members
• Physical capability to work with ladders, perform up-and-down movements, and handle heavy lifting
• Availability to work 40–50 hours weekly, including days, evenings, and weekends
• Flexibility to travel within the assigned region if required
• Legal authorization to work in Canada
