About the Role: AI Safety Operator

As an AI Safety Operator at Tesla, your primary function is to support the FSD data collection pipeline by operating engineering vehicles for extended periods — typically 6 to 8 hours per shift. You’ll manage recording devices, document your observations in detailed daily reports, and flag any data quality issues that arise during your drives. You may also ride-share during data collection runs as part of the ride-hailing service operations overseen by the team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicle safety and confirm operational status before every shift begins

Requirements / Skills

Tesla is looking for a candidate who combines safe, attentive driving with technical literacy and a genuine interest in autonomous systems. The ideal applicant is highly observant, comfortable with tech tools, and able to adapt to a variable schedule including weekends and shift work.

• Valid driver’s licence with a minimum of 3 years of driving history — this is a firm requirement
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of observational awareness during data collection drives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for reporting and team collaboration
• Tech-savvy with experience using data collection tools, troubleshooting hardware/software, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with ADAS or Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS) is considered an asset
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including at least one weekend day and availability for day, afternoon, or night shifts
• Willingness to travel domestically as required for testing operations
