About the Role

The Data Center Operations Technician will be responsible for server installations, troubleshooting hardware issues, and responding to operational incidents in AWS data centers. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, such as engineers and software developers, to ensure the smooth operation of AWS’s global infrastructure. Additionally, your role will involve participating in on-call duties, performing scheduled maintenance, and contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives.

This is a physically demanding role that requires candidates to lift up to 40 pounds, work in noisy and cramped environments, and climb ladders. As part of AWS’s 24/7 operations, you will need to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel within the regional work area is required, so candidates must have a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix, and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and contractors.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and documentation based on operational analysis.
  • Participate in on-call duties and support scheduled maintenance and change management activities.

Basic Qualifications

Amazon requires the following basic qualifications for the Work Based Learning Program Data Center Operations Technician role:

  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Willingness to participate in shift rotations to support 24/7 data center operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Amazon prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • Completion of STEM classes or vocational course curriculum.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
