Responsibilities
Day to day, a Vehicle Shifter at UPS is the backbone of efficient trailer yard operations. From prepping equipment to maintaining accurate records, every task plays a direct role in keeping package handling operations on schedule and running safely.
- Couple and uncouple tractor trailers and manoeuvre equipment into position for loading/unloading operations
- Prepare work zones with suitable equipment in accordance with current safety guidelines
- Assist with organizing the specified operational set-up as directed
- Inspect the quantity and condition of delivery units before movement
- Complete documentation and validate information on appropriate records and media
- Maintain a clean work environment during and after operations
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to a supervisor promptly
- Perform additional tasks as directed by operational needs
Requirements / Skills
UPS is looking for a responsible, safety-conscious individual with a valid driver’s licence and a willingness to work flexible hours. A background in vehicle operation is an asset, and candidates must be prepared to complete a mandatory road test on property as part of the hiring process.
