Tire Installer – Costco – Richmond, BC

Costco’s Tire Centre at 9151 Bridgeport Road in Richmond, BC is looking for a skilled and reliable Tire Installer to join their team. This hands-on role puts you at the centre of member vehicle services, where technical know-how meets genuine customer care in a busy warehouse environment.

Day to day, you’ll be balancing, mounting, rotating, and repairing tires, operating hydraulic hoists and wheel balancers, resetting TPMS sensors, and helping members find the right tires for their vehicles. About the Role: Tire Installer

As a Tire Installer at Costco Richmond, you’ll handle the full range of tire centre operations — from driving member vehicles into the install bay and performing tire mounting and balancing to completing invoicing, processing payments, and stocking the sales floor. You’ll work in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. standards and American Lift Institute guidelines, ensuring every job is done safely and correctly.

Beyond the technical work, this role involves genuine member service — answering questions, making product recommendations using the five steps of selling, providing price quotes, and booking appointments for special orders. You’ll also collaborate closely with the Tire Centre manager, buyers, and receiving staff to keep operations running smoothly and the sales floor well-organized.

Responsibilities

The Tire Installer role at Costco Richmond covers a wide range of duties across technical installation, member service, and sales floor organization. Every task contributes to a safe, efficient, and member-focused Tire Centre operation.

• Mount and balance tires using wheel balancers, mounting machines, and impact guns in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. standards
• Operate hydraulic hoists to raise vehicles safely following American Lift Institute guidelines
• Reset and relearn TPMS sensors as required using Costco-supplied reset tools
• Repair flat tires for members according to Tire Industry Standards
• Perform 40KM torque checks and assist managers with 10-point vehicle checks before authorizing release
• Assist members in determining tire needs, answering questions, and making product recommendations using persuasive selling skills
• Process payments accurately — cash, cheque, credit, and debit — and handle warranty refunds for tires and auto batteries
• Stock, tag, and organize tires on the sales floor and in steel storage in line with the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
• Communicate with buyers, receiving, and inventory staff regarding special orders, pricing, and delivery status
• May assist with propane refills at applicable locations following all safety procedures and provincial certifications

Requirements / Skills

• Valid driver’s licence — required to drive member vehicles within the Tire Centre area
• Costco Tire certification test — must be passed upon hire
• High School Diploma or GED — preferred
• Previous tire installation or tire sales experience — candidates with this background will be given preference
• Propane certification (PPO-3 and TDG) — required at propane locations once provincially certified
• Strong member service skills — ability to communicate clearly, answer questions, and make product recommendations
• Ability to work in an efficient, urgent manner throughout the shift in a fast-paced warehouse setting
