Job Summary & Tips for Applying

AI-generated summary and tips to help you highlight your strengths effectively.

Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Software Developer III, Ads Infrastructure position at Google in Waterloo, ON focuses on building and maintaining experiment-lifecycle tooling and automated workflows for Google Ads at scale. Candidates should put Python and C++ experience at the top of their resume, since both are required, followed by hands-on work with large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems, which directly supports the infrastructure and tooling duties the posting describes.

Resume & Application Tips: Frame your experience around the posting’s language: describe systems you built or maintained at scale, and name the programming languages you used, particularly Python and C++. If you have worked with high-performance computing (HPC) or large-scale data processing tools such as MapReduce or SQL-like engines, list them with concrete context, such as the data volume handled or the number of engineers who used the tooling. A line like “Reduced experiment setup time by 30% by building a configurable workflow system” shows the kind of measurable contribution that fits this work.

Interview Preparation: Prepare a specific example of a time you debugged a complex issue in a distributed or large-scale system, since triaging product or system issues across hardware, network, and service layers is a named responsibility. Have a second example ready around code review: what you look for, how you give feedback, and a case where your review caught something meaningful. The posting does not state the reporting structure or team size, so those are worth asking about, along with how experiment traffic ramp-ups are currently managed and where the biggest infrastructure gaps are.
