About the Role: Tire Installer

As a Tire Installer at Costco Kelowna, your primary focus will be performing tire installations, rotations, balancing, and flat repairs in line with industry standards. You’ll operate equipment including impact guns, mounting machines, and wheel balancers, and ensure every vehicle is handled safely from the moment it enters the bay to when it’s returned to the member.

Beyond the bay, this role also involves member-facing responsibilities — answering questions, recommending products using the five steps of selling, and processing payments and service invoices accurately. You’ll collaborate closely with the Tire Centre manager, receiving department, and inventory team, and may also assist with propane refills once you obtain the required provincial certification.

Responsibilities

The Tire Installer role at Costco Kelowna covers a broad range of tasks across the tire bay and sales floor. Each responsibility is designed to ensure member safety, vehicle integrity, and efficient service delivery throughout every shift.

  • Install and balance tires on member vehicles using mounting machines, impact guns, and wheel balancers in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. standards
  • Reset and relearn vehicle TPMS sensors using Costco-supplied tools as required
  • Perform torque checks at installation and at the 40KM follow-up interval, and alert the manager/lead to complete the 10-point vehicle check before release
  • Repair flat tires for members following Tire Industry Standards
  • Assist members in selecting the right tires by answering questions and making informed product recommendations using the five steps of selling
  • Process transactions accurately, including cash, debit, credit, and cheque payments, and generate service and purchase invoices
  • Stock, tag, and organize tires on the sales floor and in steel storage in line with the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
  • Maintain a clean work area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping down the install bay and sales floor regularly
  • Coordinate special orders and communicate with the manager, buyers, receiving, and inventory teams regarding quantities, pricing, and delivery

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for a candidate who is comfortable in a fast-paced, physical work environment and takes safety seriously. Prior experience in tire installation or automotive service is a clear asset, and strong member-facing communication skills are equally important in this role.

  • Valid driver’s licence is required to move member vehicles within the tire centre lot and install bay
  • Costco Tire Certification — candidates must pass the internal Costco tire certification test
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • Previous tire installation or tire sales experience will be given preference during the selection process
  • Propane certification (provincial PP0-3 and TDG from PTI 100-11 program) required for propane service locations once hired
  • Attention to detail and physical stamina to perform repeated lifting, vehicle handling, and equipment operation throughout the shift
