Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of complex technical programs — from architectural review to final delivery. Your work will directly support Google’s commitments to public sector clients, requiring close collaboration across development, product, legal, and finance teams.

  • Apply development-level judgement to review architectures, shape technical specifications, and challenge assumptions to ensure robust scalability
  • Manage milestones, dependencies, and risks across cross-functional teams, translating high-level business objectives into actionable, multi-quarter execution roadmaps
  • Ensure strict adherence to contractual client commitments across all relevant Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SoWs), and order forms, actively identifying and closing delivery gaps
  • Implement modern AI/ML tooling to automate repetitive workflows, enhance data-driven decision-making, and boost team productivity
  • Build consensus across development, product, finance, and legal teams while refining standard program management methodologies to maximise overall velocity and transparency
  • Mentor junior TPMs and shape the strategic direction of your area, influencing development roadmaps and driving expanded impact across multiple teams

Requirements / Skills

Google is looking for a technically grounded program manager who can operate independently at a high level while staying deeply engaged with the details that matter. The ideal candidate brings both technical depth and the communication skills to work effectively across diverse stakeholders — from engineers to executives to government clients.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management, software development, or a related discipline
  • Architectural design and technical system analysis experience is required
  • Cross-functional team leadership with a track record of managing software or hardware projects from inception to launch
  • Public sector program delivery experience, including designing and delivering programs that meet contractual requirements and obligations
  • Personnel Security Clearance — candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid clearance as a condition of employment
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a technical field; experience in sovereign/air-gap infrastructure, AI/ML, security, or defence/national security programs
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to use data and AI/ML tools to analyse program health and optimise workflows
