Staff Software Developer, Cloud – Google – Waterloo, ON
Google’s Waterloo office is hiring a Staff Software Developer to join the Cloud Source team — a group working at the cutting edge of source code management, software supply chain security, and AI-driven developer tooling. If you’re a senior engineer who wants to shape the future of how organizations build and secure software at scale, this role puts you squarely at that intersection.
This isn’t a typical engineering position. You’ll be helping to define the technical direction of Google Cloud’s Application Development Platform, building next-generation services that enable AI agents to autonomously orchestrate the software development lifecycle — while ensuring the integrity of every artifact from source code to production.
About the Role: Staff Software Developer, Cloud
As a Staff Software Developer on the Cloud Source team, you’ll work on products that manage the lifecycle of source code within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This includes Cloud SCMs (supporting Secure Source Manager and legacy Cloud Source Repositories), Developer Connect (bridging GCP with third-party SCMs), and an upcoming Software Delivery Trust product focused on keyless signing, attestations, and policy enforcement. Your technical contributions will directly affect how developers at organizations around the world manage, trust, and deliver software.
You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Tech Leads, and Cloud Foundations teams to deliver platforms that meet the rigorous security and compliance requirements of enterprise and public sector customers. Participation in Cloud Source on-call rotations is part of the role, keeping system reliability at the forefront.
