About the Role
As a Software Development Engineer, you will take ownership of the design and development of product features across a wide range of Amazon technologies. You will be engaged in the full software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis to design, implementation, and achieving operational excellence. Operating in a DevOps delivery model, you will ensure high-quality standards throughout the development process, collaborating cross-functionally with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and tech teams to bring innovative solutions to life.
This role offers the chance to dive deep into technical challenges, whether building intuitive front-end systems, reliable back-end services, or full-stack applications. You’ll also work with large-scale datasets and distributed systems, optimizing for performance and scalability. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable product features for front-end, back-end, or full-stack systems.
- Lead system architecture for new and existing projects, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and tech teams.
- Ensure high-quality code through best practices such as peer reviews and testing.
- Continuously improve systems by optimizing for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
Basic Qualifications
Amazon requires the following basic qualifications for the Software Development Engineer role:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
Amazon prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary for the Software Development Engineer position at Amazon ranges from $114,800/year to $191,800/year. Compensation is determined by various factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company, meaning equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of the package.
