Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be doing hands-on software development work while also contributing to team-wide processes like code review and design planning. Each responsibility connects directly to delivering high-quality, scalable Android applications that serve Google Workspace users globally.
- Write product and system development code that meets Google’s standards for quality and efficiency
- Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to evaluate and choose among available technologies
- Review code developed by other developers and provide constructive feedback on style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency
- Triage and debug product or system issues by analyzing root causes and understanding the impact on hardware, network, or service operations
- Track and resolve issues through to completion, ensuring minimal disruption to service quality
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a developer who brings both technical depth in Android and the curiosity to work across different domains. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, takes ownership of their work, and communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience
- 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages (or 1 year with an advanced degree)
- 2 years of Android application development experience — this is a core requirement for the role
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field (preferred)
- Experience with data structures and algorithms — at least 2 years (preferred)
- iOS application development experience is considered an asset
- Experience developing accessible technologies is also preferred
- English proficiency is required, as Google operates as a global company with cross-functional collaboration
