About the Role: Senior Software Developer, Site Reliability

As a Senior Software Developer on the Site Reliability Development team, you’ll manage the full lifecycle of services — from initial design through deployment, live operations, and ongoing refinement. Much of the focus is on optimizing existing systems, building scalable infrastructure, and eliminating toil through automation. You’ll bring your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis, and large-scale system design to challenges that are truly unique to Google Cloud’s scale.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be deeply involved in the entire service lifecycle — not just writing code, but also consulting on system design, measuring reliability in production, and driving the kind of automation that scales Google Cloud sustainably.   • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services — from inception and design through to deployment, operation, and refinement
  • Support services before they go live through system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews
  • Maintain live services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems

Requirements / Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages

  • 2+ years of experience leading projects and providing technical leadership
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (preferred)
