About the Role: Senior Software Developer, Mobile (iOS)

As a senior contributor on the Platforms and Devices team, you’ll be involved in the full software development lifecycle — from writing and testing production code to leading design reviews with peers and stakeholders. The team is building the convergence of AI and XR, creating lightweight device experiences powered by conversational, contextually aware intelligence. Your expertise in iOS development will be central to making these experiences a reality.

For candidates based in Canada, the compensation range is $182,000 – $186,000 CAD, plus a 15% bonus target, equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities

Day-to-day, this role involves a blend of hands-on coding, design leadership, and cross-team collaboration. You’ll be expected to contribute technically while also helping to guide the quality and direction of the broader codebase. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • Write and test product or system development code to a high standard of quality and efficiency
  • Lead or participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to evaluate available technologies and make sound architectural decisions
  • Review code from other developers and provide constructive feedback on style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency
  • Contribute to existing documentation and educational content, adapting materials based on product updates and user feedback
  • Triage and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and assessing impact on hardware, network, and service quality

Requirements / Skills

Google is looking for a candidate who brings both deep technical expertise in iOS development and the maturity to operate effectively in a large-scale engineering environment. You should be comfortable working on complex systems, leading conversations with stakeholders, and continuously raising the bar for code quality.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
  • 5 years of experience programming in C++, Objective-C, or Swift
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, including 1 year in large-scale application design and architecture
  • 3 years of iOS application development experience at a professional level
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role (preferred)
  • Experience developing accessible technologies is considered an asset
