Role of the Senior Applied Scientist
As a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon Health, you will play a key role in translating product and customer experience requirements into science metrics.
You’ll invent scalable methodologies to evaluate LLM outputs, design high-quality semantic retrieval systems, and optimize LLMs to improve customer experiences while reducing operational costs.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging science problems that have not been solved before, conducting rapid prototyping and deploying algorithmic solutions at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Science Metrics: Translate product and CX requirements into rigorous testing methodologies.
- LLM Optimization: Tune and optimize large language models to enhance customer experience.
- System Design: Develop high-quality knowledge bases and optimize embedding models.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product, UX, and business teams to understand customer challenges.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary for this position ranges from $150,400 to $260,000 per year, depending on your location, experience, and skills. Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
- PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., engineering, computer science, machine learning) or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in building machine learning models for business applications.
