About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

As an on-call relief carrier, you’ll be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of mail and parcels along designated rural and suburban routes in the Green Valley area. You’ll need to get to know the local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles quickly, and maintain that knowledge as part of your day-to-day routine. You’ll also be handling various Canada Post products and services, from change of address notifications to damaged mail processing.

This role comes with physical demands — you’ll be lifting and carrying items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) — and requires that you use your own vehicle, which must meet specific Canada Post cargo and safety requirements. You’ll wear your Canada Post identification visibly during deliveries and be expected to represent the organization professionally at all times. Responsibilities

Day-to-day, this role centres on delivering mail efficiently and safely across rural and suburban routes while maintaining a professional presence in the community. Carriers are expected to manage their time independently, keep accurate records, and handle a variety of Canada Post products and procedures with care and attention to detail.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner along assigned routes
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles in the Green Valley area
• Secure all mail items in your possession throughout the delivery process
• Process Canada Post products and services, including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times during deliveries and collections
• Lift and carry parcels and mail weighing up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
• Operate your personal vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions while meeting Canada Post’s mandatory vehicle requirements
• Maintain appropriate automobile liability insurance and notify your insurer of your vehicle’s use for Canada Post deliveries

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for reliable, organized individuals who are comfortable working independently and can adapt quickly to varying conditions. A clean driving record and valid licence are non-negotiable, and you’ll need to have a personal vehicle that meets the specific cargo and safety specifications required for the role.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a driver’s abstract will be required
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions
• Personal vehicle meeting Canada Post requirements: minimum 50 cu ft (1,415 L) cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof with accessory power outlet, and interior window sill height between 38″ and 45″
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) on a regular basis
• Preference given to applicants residing within 75 km of the Green Valley Post Office
