Responsibilities

Working as a Registered Pharmacy Technician at Costco means wearing a few different hats throughout the day. From serving members at the counter to managing prescription workflows and maintaining accurate records, your work directly supports the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy department.

• Assist members at the pharmacy counter, receive written prescriptions, and retrieve filled prescriptions for pickup
• Process register transactions including payments, change, and credit/debit charges accurately and efficiently
• Maintain confidential patient records and assist the pharmacist in updating patient profiles and entering prescription data into the computer system as permitted by provincial regulations
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving stock, counting medication, labelling containers, and pricing — all under pharmacist supervision
• Complete packaging verification for prescriptions previously reviewed by the pharmacist for therapeutic appropriateness
• Alert the pharmacist to potential drug interactions between prescription and over-the-counter medications
• Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone and take verbal prescriptions as permitted by provincial regulations
• Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and make accounting entries using the computerized system
• Order, receive, tag, and stock prescription drugs, supplies, and OTC products; follow merchandising plans and product storage procedures
• Support the department by creating product signs, performing stocking duties, and ensuring the area is clean and tidy at all times

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate for this role is a licensed Pharmacy Technician in good standing in British Columbia who brings solid computer skills, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to member service. • Provincial Pharmacy Technician certification — either completed through a Community College program or equivalent training
• Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada (PEBC) Qualifying Exam — successfully completed
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing in British Columbia
• Computer skills — comfortable working with pharmacy management software and computerized systems
• Math skills — accuracy in counting, measuring, and processing transactions is essential
• Member service skills — ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients at all times
• Current Costco Pharmacy experience — candidates with this background will be given preference
