About the Role: Optical Student

Responsibilities

Working in Costco’s optical department means wearing several hats — from member-facing service to back-of-house stocking and cleaning. Each responsibility plays a part in ensuring the department runs smoothly and members leave satisfied with their experience.

  • Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, providing prompt and courteous service throughout
  • Process transactions accurately, including cash, cheque, credit, and debit payments following proper procedures
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and manual bending techniques, under the supervision of a licensed Optician where permitted by provincial law
  • Order supplies and merchandise by keying into the computer system and following safety and security procedures
  • Stock merchandise and maintain department standards for production, record keeping, merchandising, and product storage
  • Clean the department through spraying, wiping, and mopping; empty trash and operate the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are already on their path in the optical field — specifically those with the proper provincial licensing and college registration in place. A willingness to learn and deliver excellent member service is essential in this role.
