About the Role: Package Handler (Local Sort)
As a Package Handler, your core focus is keeping packages moving accurately and efficiently through the facility. You’ll be loading and unloading trailers and package cars, scanning and sorting shipments, and stocking packages — all while following UPS’s established package handling methods. Heavy machinery may also be used to complete certain tasks.
UPS places a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork. You’ll be expected to memorize and apply postal codes, work within a structured union environment governed by the Teamsters Collective Agreement, and bring flexibility to your schedule when volume increases.
Benefits and Salary
This position starts at $17.65 per hour with guaranteed wage progression under the Union Teamsters Collective Agreement. You’ll be paid every Friday. After one year, you’ll be eligible for health, dental, and vision care benefits. UPS also offers tuition reimbursement of up to $1,500 per semester and employee discounts. Note that union dues apply monthly, and a union initiation fee is deducted after 90 working days. A criminal background record check is also required.

Responsibilities
