Automotive Mechanic 310S – UPS – Chatham, Ontario

About the Role: Automotive Mechanic 310S

As an Auto Mechanic 310S at UPS, your primary focus is the inspection, repair, maintenance, and diagnostic testing of UPS gasoline-powered vehicles. You’ll work in a structured shop environment, ensuring every vehicle that leaves your bay is road-ready and safe. The role demands precision, efficiency, and a genuine command of your trade tools.

Beyond the bench work, you’ll also be expected to operate and road-test company vehicles both within UPS facilities and on public roads, which is why a clean driver’s abstract is a hard requirement. The shop environment is mainly indoors, though some outdoor work is involved, and you’ll represent UPS by adhering to the company’s Appearance Guidelines while in uniform.

Benefits and Salary

UPS offers a structured and transparent wage progression for this role. Starting wage for 310S licence holders is $36.00 per hour, rising to $37.00 per hour after 90 working days, and reaching $42.29 per hour after 12 months from the date seniority is earned. Candidates who hold both a 310S and 310T licence are eligible for an additional $1.00 per hour premium. Pay is issued weekly every Friday, and progression follows the existing union Collective Agreement. • Valid 310S Automotive Service Technician licence — required; dual 310S and 310T holders eligible for wage premium
• Clean driver’s abstract/record — must be dated within one month of the interview; no violations in the past 12 months, no more than 2 violations in the past 36 months, no accidents, and a maximum of 5 demerit points over the past 36 months
• Must pass a pre-employment road test prior to starting
• Possession of essential trade tools and equipment — candidates are expected to supply their own
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs as required during the course of vehicle maintenance work
• Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality of work
