About the Role: Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner (Licensed)

As a licensed optician at Costco Regina, you’ll assist members in selecting frames, lenses, contact lenses, and sunglasses suited to their prescriptions. Your clinical responsibilities include measuring for pupillary distance, determining multifocal and bifocal heights, examining members’ eyes with a slit lamp, and fitting contact lenses based on corneal assessments. Responsibilities

• Process orders in the computer system and place special orders to outside vendors by telephone
• Verify and dispense completed eyeglasses and contact lenses against prescriptions before handing off to members
• Fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and manual bending techniques
• Handle transactions including cash, cheque, credit, and debit payments accurately and according to procedures
• Oversee apprentices and students as required for their certification qualification
• Maintain provincial licensing requirements and keep membership in the provincial order in good standing
• Stock and manage optical merchandise, supplies, and contact lens trial levels
• Uphold health care cleanliness standards and department display presentation at all times
