Optical Student – Costco – Regina, SK

Costco’s optical department in Regina, Saskatchewan is looking for an Optical Student to join the team at their 2110 Anaquod Road location. If you’re registered with a provincial optical college and want hands-on experience in a busy retail optical environment, this role offers practical day-to-day experience working directly with members.

In this position, you’ll be assisting members with eyeglass frame and lens selection, processing orders and payments, fitting eyeglasses, and keeping the department stocked and clean. It’s a customer-facing role that blends optical knowledge with retail service skills.

About the Role: Optical Student

As an Optical Student at Costco Regina, your day-to-day work centres on supporting members throughout their eyewear journey — from helping them select frames and lenses to ensuring their finished order fits correctly. You’ll also handle cash and payment processing, merchandise stocking, and general department upkeep. All fitting and adjustment work is performed under the supervision of a licensed Optician and in accordance with provincial law. Working as part of a larger warehouse team also means occasionally supporting other departments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Place orders for equipment, merchandise, and supplies via computer entry
• Stock merchandise and supplies while following department standards for merchandising and product storage
• Maintain a clean department through regular spraying, wiping, mopping, and waste disposal including trash compactor and cardboard bailer operation
• Support other warehouse areas as required

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for a candidate who is currently pursuing their optical certification and holds the required provincial credentials. No prior work experience is necessary — the role is designed to help students develop skills on the job. Strong member service instincts and a willingness to follow procedures will go a long way here.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Current Provincial Optical Licence required
• Registration with the applicable provincial optical college required
• Customer service skills with a friendly, professional manner
