About the Role: Operations Supervisor

As an Operations Supervisor at FedEx Richmond, your focus will be on leading and supporting Cargo Handler staff during sort operations. You’ll direct daily work activities, address service failures quickly, and ensure your team is equipped with the training and guidance they need to perform at their best. This role is central to the station’s ability to meet delivery commitments and uphold the FedEx Express Safety Above All Culture.

Beyond the day-to-day, you’ll also be responsible for mentoring and coaching employees, managing administrative compliance, and resolving conflicts as they arise. Responsibilities

This role puts you at the centre of FedEx station sort operations, where every shift requires strong decision-making and team leadership. You’ll be responsible for keeping both people and packages moving safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.

  • Lead and direct Cargo Handler staff through daily sort operations and work activities
  • Monitor and recover potential service failures within the station sort function
  • Mentor, coach, and train employees to ensure they meet performance and compliance standards
  • Ensure compliance with FedEx Express policies, procedures, and applicable government regulations
  • Address and resolve conflicts on the floor in a timely and constructive manner
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks effectively in a time-sensitive, high-volume environment
  • Uphold the Safety Above All Culture by promoting safe package handling and workplace behaviour
  • Manage administrative processes related to CH functions and departmental compliance

Requirements / Skills

FedEx is looking for a candidate who brings both supervisory confidence and operational know-how to the table. You should be someone who leads by example, communicates with clarity, and holds yourself accountable when things don’t go as planned.

  • 2 years of FedEx sort operations or senior hourly experience, OR 2 years of supervisory experience in a related industry
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record (two or fewer violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
  • Physical capability to lift up to 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment
  • DG (Dangerous Goods) certification completion and maintenance as part of basic and recurrency training
  • Strong leadership skills — ability to inspire, empower, and motivate a team
  • EXCEL Leadership Development Stream participation (preferred)
  • Organizational and analytical skills with the ability to simplify processes while maintaining quality
