About the Role: ML Engineer – Creator Studio

As an ML Engineer on the Creator Studio team, you’ll take a hands-on role in defining and implementing key AI features for Apple’s creative application suite. You’ll work at the intersection of large language models, generative AI, and on-device machine learning — helping to push what’s possible on Apple hardware and platforms. This is deeply technical work with real product impact.

You’ll be expected to train, evaluate, and deploy multimodal large language models and foundational models, while contributing to broader conversations around user experience, project direction, and system architecture. Apple offers a base pay range of $150,700 to $285,000 CAD for this role in Vancouver, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Responsibilities

Day-to-day, you’ll be deeply involved in the full lifecycle of AI model development — from research and training through to deployment within Creator Studio’s product suite. These responsibilities are central to delivering reliable, scalable, and innovative on-device AI experiences on Apple platforms.

  • Define and implement key agentic AI features within Creator Studio applications, contributing to product direction from an early stage
  • Train, evaluate, and deploy multimodal large language models and foundational models for creative use cases
  • Develop and ship reliable, scalable, maintainable, and testable code across multiple engineering priorities
  • Collaborate closely with human interface designers, QA teams, and cross-functional engineering teams to align AI capabilities with user experience goals
  • Optimize models and algorithms to run efficiently on resource-constrained Apple platforms
  • Influence project planning and architecture decisions beyond code, contributing to roadmap and feature strategy
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across teams

Requirements / Skills

Apple is looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in machine learning engineering and hands-on experience shipping AI products at scale. The ideal person is technically rigorous, communicates well across disciplines, and is energized by working in a fast-paced, early-stage team environment.

  • 5+ years of experience developing and shipping reliable, scalable, maintainable, and testable code
  • Experience with Multimodal LLMs, Foundation Models, Generative AI, or related machine learning disciplines
  • Proven track record training, evaluating, and deploying multimodal large language models or foundational models
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++, plus proficiency in a deep learning toolkit such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong communication and project management skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Preferred: Experience with Core ML, Swift, iOS/macOS development, model optimization on constrained hardware, building APIs or frameworks, and technical leadership
