Meat Assistant – Costco – Kelowna, BC
Location: Vancouver, BC | Company: Costco Wholesale
Costco’s Kelowna warehouse on Baron Road is looking for a Meat Assistant to join their busy meat department. This is a hands-on, physical role that keeps the department running smoothly — from wrapping and labelling meat products to stocking display cases and operating meat processing equipment. If you take pride in food quality and enjoy working in a fast-paced setting, this could be a solid fit.
Day to day, you’ll be working with automatic wrapping machines, a meat grinder, and display case stock rotation — all while keeping up with strict food safety and sanitation standards. It’s a role that blends physical work with attention to detail and a commitment to member service.
About the Role: Meat Assistant
As a Meat Assistant at the Costco Kelowna location, you’ll handle the full range of daily meat department tasks. That includes inspecting and reassembling equipment at the start of each shift, reworking the display case, rotating products, and running packages through the automatic wrapping machine. You’ll set the labeller according to product type and price, then apply those labels accurately before stocking finished product into the display case.
Beyond the wrapping and stocking duties, you’ll operate the meat grinder and check fat content for each batch — following proper production procedures and quality standards. Maintaining a clean, sanitary workspace throughout your shift is a core part of the job, and you’ll be expected to comply with all health code requirements, including temperature monitoring and sanitation protocols. Routine machinery maintenance and courteous member service round out the role.
Benefits and Salary
This position offers a pay rate of $20.00 per hour. Costco is widely recognised for offering competitive wages and strong employee benefits packages, including health and dental coverage, as well as other perks that come with working for one of Canada’s leading warehouse retailers.
