Manager, Cyber & Technology Risk – Canadian Tire – Toronto, ON

Reporting to the AVP, Cyber & Technology Risk, you’ll serve as an independent voice challenging and assessing cyber security practices, technology roadmaps, and risk governance across the enterprise. This is a highly cross-functional role that bridges IT, cybersecurity, privacy, and business stakeholders to ensure the organization’s cyber risk posture remains aligned with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

About the Role: Manager, Cyber & Technology Risk

At its core, this position is about providing a credible, independent layer of cyber risk oversight within Canadian Tire’s enterprise risk management framework. You’ll evaluate current and emerging cyber technologies deployed across the CTC environment, measure program effectiveness against defined risk appetite and tolerance limits, and work with stakeholders to drive meaningful remediation of identified risks. The role also involves maintaining KPI frameworks and using metrics to influence cybersecurity program outcomes.

Collaboration is central to success here. You’ll act as a liaison between first-line functions including IT, cybersecurity, and business units, while also engaging with Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit. You’ll contribute to operational resilience, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery assessments, and help foster a strong culture of cyber risk awareness throughout the organization.

Canadian Tire offers a competitive hiring range of $79,000 – $131,000 CAD annually, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and market benchmarks. Responsibilities

As Manager, Cyber & Technology Risk, you’ll lead a broad range of activities designed to protect CTC’s enterprise technology environment. From conducting independent risk assessments to advising on business continuity strategy, your work directly shapes how the organization identifies and responds to cyber threats at scale.

• Conduct independent assessments of current cybersecurity practices, roadmaps, and strategies across the enterprise to provide credible challenge and oversight
• Evaluate cyber technologies within the CTC environment to verify the right tools are deployed to effectively mitigate risks to acceptable levels
• Maintain governance processes for developing and managing cyber risk management activities across the organization
• Measure cyber program performance against defined risk appetite and tolerance limits, informed by regulatory compliance, industry standards, and technical capabilities
• Facilitate risk remediation through effective KPI management, leveraging metrics and engaging stakeholders as required
• Partner with cybersecurity, IT, and business teams to assess operational resilience, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery readiness
• Act as a liaison between first-line cyber and technology risk functions including IT, cybersecurity, business units, Enterprise Risk, and Internal Audit
• Promote a culture of cyber risk awareness throughout Canadian Tire Corporation

Requirements / Skills

This role is best suited to a seasoned cybersecurity professional who can operate independently, influence senior stakeholders, and bring rigorous analytical thinking to enterprise-level risk challenges. Canadian Tire is looking for someone who combines hands-on technical depth with strong governance and communication skills.

• 7+ years of experience in a cyber technology management role, ideally in retail, a global organization, or a similar industry
• Broad cybersecurity technology expertise including firewalls, cloud security, IDS/IPS, DLP, and IDAM
• Deep knowledge of industry frameworks such as NIST, ISO, COBIT, and PCI for identifying and managing cyber risk
• Certifications in CISSP, CISM, and SCF are required; CRISC and CISA are a definite asset
• Expert knowledge of network technologies, cloud platforms, hardware, operating systems, and security interoperability across a full technology stack
• Strong understanding of data privacy practices and applicable laws
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or a related field
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility across diverse teams in a high-pressure environment
