Data Analyst – Center of Excellence & Data Analytics – Canadian Tire – Toronto, ON

Canadian Tire Corporation is one of Canada’s most recognizable and trusted companies, and they’re looking to add a Data Analyst to their Center of Excellence & Data Analytics team in Toronto, Ontario. About the Role: Data Analyst – Center of Excellence & Data Analytics

Day-to-day, you’ll partner with audit teams to understand their objectives and data needs, then design and execute analytics procedures tailored to each engagement. This includes everything from control testing and population analysis to exception reporting and pattern identification. You’ll extract, clean, and transform data using SQL, Python, and Excel, and build dashboards and visualizations in Power BI to communicate findings clearly.

Beyond individual engagements, you’ll contribute to the continuous improvement of Internal Audit’s analytics capabilities by building reusable scripts, templates, and reporting assets. You’ll also use Power Automate to streamline workflows and may leverage platforms like KNIME or similar tools to support data preparation and automation activities. The ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders is just as important here as the technical work itself.

Benefits and Salary

This position offers a broadband salary range of $53,000 – $88,000 CAD, with the final offer depending on experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Canadian Tire also provides a comprehensive benefits and retirement program, performance incentives, continuing education programs, career growth opportunities, and product discounts. The enhanced flex benefits program includes $5,000 per year in mental health benefits for eligible employees and their families, along with other well-being tools and resources. Responsibilities

As a Data Analyst within Canadian Tire’s Internal Audit function, your work will directly support the organization’s ability to manage risk and maintain strong internal controls. Each engagement will require you to bring both technical expertise and clear communication skills to deliver findings that matter.

• Collaborate with audit teams to understand audit objectives, business processes, data requirements, and reporting needs
• Design and execute data analytics procedures for audit engagements, including control testing, population analysis, exception reporting, and pattern identification
• Summarize analytical results into clear, concise insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Extract, clean, and transform data using SQL, Python, or Excel to support audit testing and risk assessments
• Identify anomalies, trends, outliers, and risk indicators through advanced data analysis
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI
• Build reusable analytics scripts, templates, and reporting assets to improve efficiency and consistency
• Leverage Power Automate to support workflow automation, reporting processes, and repeatable analytics activities
• Support continuous improvement of Internal Audit’s data analytics capabilities, tools, and methodologies
• Utilize platforms such as KNIME or similar tools where applicable to support data preparation and analytics workflows

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in data analytics alongside exposure to audit or risk management environments. Canadian Tire values professionals who can bridge the gap between technical analysis and business storytelling — someone equally comfortable writing a SQL query as they are presenting findings to a non-technical audience.

• Post-secondary education in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience in data analytics, audit, risk management, or a related field
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, and Power Automate
• Data visualization skills with the ability to present analytical findings in a clear and business-relevant manner
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Ability to work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources and translate business questions into analytical solutions
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of audit, risk management, internal controls, and business processes
• Experience with KNIME, Azure Synapse, or Copilot Studio is considered an asset
