About the Role: Food Counter Attendant

As a Food Counter Attendant at Tim Hortons, you’ll be responsible for a broad set of tasks that keep daily operations running smoothly. From handling food preparation and packaging to maintaining a clean and safe workspace, your work directly impacts the customer experience at every visit.

You’ll be expected to follow food safety and sanitation standards, handle cleaning products responsibly, and work as part of a team to meet the demands of a busy counter environment. The ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) is required for this position.

Benefits and Salary

This position offers a wage of $15.50 per hour, with 30 to 40 hours per week. Overtime is available, and scheduling is flexible with options across early mornings, mornings, days, evenings, nights, and weekends — making it workable for a variety of schedules.

Responsibilities

Working at a Tim Hortons counter means wearing many hats throughout a shift. From serving customers to scrubbing pots, the role requires consistency, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards. Here’s what a typical day looks like:

• Take customers’ orders accurately and efficiently at the counter
• Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items as needed during service
• Package and portion take-out food and wrap items for customers
• Operate dishwashers to clean dishes, glassware, and flatware; wash items by hand when required
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, appliances, storage areas, and equipment
• Clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs in the dining area
• Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas
• Keep records of quantities of food used throughout the day
• Handle and store cleaning products safely and appropriately
• Remove kitchen garbage and sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors

Requirements / Skills

Tim Hortons is looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who can keep up with the pace of a quick service restaurant. Prior experience is considered an asset but is not required — a willingness to learn and a positive attitude go a long way here.

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
• Physical ability to lift and handle up to 23 kg (50 lbs) regularly
• Experience with equipment such as electronic cash registers, food dispensers, and grills is an asset
• Availability across a range of shifts including early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends
• Reliability and attention to detail in following food safety and sanitation procedures
• Prior food service or customer-facing experience is an asset but not mandatory
