About the Role: Cloud Technical Solutions Developer

As a Technical Solutions Developer, you’ll own large and high-priority customer issues while also providing level-two support to other support teams within Google Cloud. Your work will span debugging, system administration, networking, and occasionally coding or scripting to resolve and prevent recurring issues. You’ll also contribute to product improvements by surfacing customer pain points to engineering and product teams.

This position sits within the Google Cloud Platform team, a group dedicated to helping developers, businesses, institutions, and government agencies get real value from cloud technology. You’ll act as a subject matter expert and consultant — bridging the gap between customers experiencing technical obstacles and the product and site reliability teams who can address them at scale. Responsibilities

This role demands a hands-on technical professional who can move fluidly between customer-facing support and deep technical investigation. Your day-to-day will involve diagnosing complex issues across storage and database products, collaborating with internal engineering teams, and helping customers succeed on Google Cloud. Every ticket you resolve and every tool you build contributes directly to the reliability and usability of the platform.

  • Provide 24×7 support as part of a globally distributed team of Developers and Consultants
  • Diagnose and resolve customer technical issues through effective debugging, root cause analysis, and targeted investigation
  • Develop investigation tools to increase productivity and reduce resolution time for recurring customer issues on Google Cloud Platform
  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for sales and customer organizations to remove technical deployment blockers
  • Build in-depth product knowledge by troubleshooting, reproducing issues, and identifying root causes across storage and database architectures
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to improve supportability and overall product quality
  • Partner with Site Reliability Developers to drive high-quality production outcomes for customers

Requirements / Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 9 years of experience reading and debugging code in Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Perl, or JavaScript, including experience with software frameworks
  • 9 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues (hardware, software, application, operational, process) and advocating for customer needs
  • SQL/NoSQL database experience — writing and executing queries against large datasets and log files is a strong asset
  • Linux/Unix system administration knowledge at the kernel, shell, file system, and client-server protocol level is preferred
  • Container and Kubernetes experience (Docker, kubectl, image repositories) is considered an asset
  • Network troubleshooting skills including collecting and reading packet captures, with knowledge of HTTP protocol, web frameworks, and common web technologies
