About the Role: Cashier Assistant

As a Cashier Assistant at Costco Calgary, your main focus is supporting the cashier and ensuring members have a seamless checkout experience. You’ll pack member orders into boxes, transfer items to separate carts or flatbeds, check packaging for tampering, and assist members in loading their orders into their vehicles when appropriate. You’ll also run for merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep the lines moving.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and assist them in loading their orders onto the conveyor belt while determining their packing preferences

• Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving
• Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them
• Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front-end, addressing spills and trip hazards immediately
• Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area using a rope with a clasping hook, pushing no more than 8 carts at a time
• Perform set-up and closing duties including returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and cleaning
• Operate the mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer as required
• Support cashiers during various promotions and assist in other warehouse areas as needed

Requirements / Skills
