Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Cake Decorator at Costco involves a combination of skilled food preparation, creative decorating, and consistent adherence to production procedures and quality standards. From slicing and layering to custom writing and cake boxing, each task contributes to the finished product that members pick up or special-order.
- Frost and fill cakes by applying filling between layers and finishing with a spatula
- Decorate cakes using pastry bags and tips to create borders, figures, and personalized writing per Costco formulas
- Read and fulfil member special orders, selecting appropriate flavours, colours, and decorative patterns
- Contact members by telephone when special order instructions are unclear
- Prepare cheesecakes by removing from baking pans, applying toppings, and garnishing per Costco standards
- Operate equipment including a whipping cream machine and cake slicing machine
- Slice fresh fruit for application to baked products
- Assemble and box cakes using pre-cut cardboard boxes and transfer to cooler, freezer, or wrapping area
- Maintain cleanliness of the decorating area and follow all safety and security procedures
- Assist with additional bakery duties and provide prompt, courteous service to Costco members
Requirements / Skills
