As an Assistant Team Leader at Dollarama, your day will involve a mix of hands-on retail tasks and supervisory responsibilities. You’ll help manage store operations, ensure shelves are properly stocked according to presentation standards, and step in as manager on duty when needed — handling breaks, attendance, and opening or closing the store.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be actively involved in both the day-to-day operations of the store and the leadership of your team. From managing shipments to supporting staff training, the Assistant Team Leader plays a key part in keeping everything on track and running efficiently.

• Assist the management team in overseeing store operations and staff coordination
• Box and unbox daily shipments to keep inventory moving efficiently
• Stock products on shelves daily in compliance with presentation standards
• Deliver strong customer service and resolve customer issues as they arise
• Uphold store safety and cleanliness standards, contributing to a compliant and welcoming environment
• Perform manager on duty tasks, including confirming breaks are taken and entering attendance records
• Handle cash management and carry out store opening and closing duties as needed
• Participate in employee training to support team development and onboarding

Requirements / Skills

Dollarama is looking for candidates who can balance the demands of a fast-paced retail environment with the responsibilities of a supervisory role. You should be comfortable leading by example, managing your priorities independently, and keeping both your team and your customers in mind throughout your shift.

• Approximately one (1) year of relevant retail experience to understand the operational demands of the role
• Approximately one (1) year in a supervisory role to confidently lead and support team members
• Flexible availability including day, evening, and weekend shifts
• Strong organisational and time management skills to efficiently handle competing priorities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for working effectively with staff and customers
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic, high-volume environment
• Customer service orientation with a focus on resolving issues professionally and promptly
