Responsibilities
As an Assistant Store Manager at Dollarama, your day-to-day will span people management, operational oversight, and compliance. These responsibilities are essential to keeping the store running efficiently and ensuring both staff and customers have a positive experience.
- Support the Store Manager in overseeing all daily retail store operations and ensuring consistent execution of company standards
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) in the Store Manager’s absence, taking full responsibility for store operations during those periods
- Communicate and enforce company rules and regulations to all team members, ensuring they are clearly understood and consistently followed
- Oversee inventory counts in a prompt and accurate manner to facilitate proper resupply of goods and minimize stock discrepancies
- Ensure merchandising practices are carried out according to established company guidelines throughout the store
- Participate in recruitment and training activities for new employees, helping to build a capable and reliable team
- Manage team performance and priorities, organizing daily tasks efficiently to meet store operational needs
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a solid background in retail and a genuine interest in leading a team. Dollarama values strong communicators who can manage competing priorities in a high-traffic environment while keeping a cool head.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in the retail industry is preferred
- Team management experience is an asset, with the ability to guide and motivate staff effectively

- Good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to explain expectations clearly to team members
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, totalling 40–50 hours per week
- Physical capability to work with ladders, perform up-and-down movements, and handle heavy lifting as required
