Asset Protection Representative – Loblaws – Vanier, ON

About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

As an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws, you’ll be responsible for deterring and addressing theft, fraud, and policy violations through a combination of visible presence, surveillance monitoring, and internal investigations. You’ll work directly with store leadership to identify loss trends and implement targeted prevention strategies — all while ensuring compliance with company standards and provincial security regulations.

Working in a fast-paced retail environment, you’ll need to make quick, sound decisions while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanour. This role demands both physical readiness and investigative thinking — you’ll be expected to lawfully detain offenders, document incidents thoroughly, and liaise with local law enforcement when necessary. Responsibilities

Day to day, you’ll be the eyes and ears of the store — using surveillance technology, investigative skills, and direct intervention to keep the store safe and minimize shrink. Your responsibilities span from deterrence and detection through to documentation and collaboration with law enforcement, making this a well-rounded and dynamic role in retail loss prevention.

• Deter and prevent theft, fraud, and policy violations by maintaining a visible and professional in-store presence
• Apprehend offenders safely and lawfully, following all company protocols and provincial legal procedures
• Conduct investigations — both internal and external — gathering and analyzing evidence to support case outcomes
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when required, providing statements and documentation
• Partner with store leadership to identify loss trends and develop effective theft prevention strategies
• Monitor CCTV and surveillance tools to detect suspicious activity and respond appropriately
• Ensure compliance with company security standards, policies, and provincial regulations
• Adapt to a flexible schedule, covering a variety of shifts in a high-volume grocery and pharmacy environment

Requirements / Skills

Loblaws is looking for a candidate who brings both the credentials and the character to succeed in this role. The ideal Asset Protection Representative is someone who operates with integrity, stays calm under pressure, and has a genuine commitment to safety, fairness, and professional conduct.

• Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence — required for this position
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Criminal Code of Canada and the Trespass to Property Act
• Experience with CCTV and surveillance technology, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong communication skills — approachable, confident, and able to engage respectfully with customers, colleagues, and law enforcement
• High level of integrity and accountability, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems
• Open availability including days, evenings, nights, and weekends (40-hour work week)
• Previous experience in grocery, pharmacy, or high-volume retail environments is considered an asset
• Must be 18 years or older and able to complete a criminal background check
