About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

As an Asset Protection Representative, your day-to-day work spans everything from deterring and detecting theft and fraud on the floor to compiling evidence for court or arbitration proceedings. You’ll be an active partner with the store management team, running audits, attending management meetings, and coaching colleagues on Asset Protection policies and procedures.

Collaboration is a big part of this position. You’ll work alongside other APRs on organized retail crime (ORC) investigations at the provincial or national level and maintain an ongoing relationship with your local police service. Safety, compliance, and operational integrity are at the heart of everything you do in this role.

Responsibilities

Working as an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws means wearing many hats — from active floor surveillance and investigations to mentoring colleagues and participating in community events. Your work directly supports the store’s profitability, safety, and compliance at every level.

  • Deter, detect, and apprehend individuals involved in theft and fraud within retail locations
  • Collaborate with other APRs to investigate provincial or national organized retail crime (ORC) cases
  • Liaise regularly with the local police service to support enforcement and investigations
  • Conduct internal investigations and compile and present evidence for court or arbitration proceedings
  • Identify shrink opportunities within operational core compliance to reduce loss
  • Build store partnerships through management meetings and huddles; coach and mentor colleagues on Asset Protection policies and procedures
  • Participate in store-level audits to ensure compliance and operational integrity
  • Engage in community events as a representative of the Loblaws Asset Protection team

  • Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence — required to apply for this position
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Trespass to Property Act, and Powers of Arrest
  • Experience with CCTV and/or surveillance systems and a working knowledge of Windows-based applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanour when interacting with colleagues, management, and law enforcement
  • High degree of initiative and integrity suited to a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends (40-hour work week)
  • Candidates 18 years or older must be able to complete a criminal background check
