Vehicle Shifter – UPS – Barrie, Ontario, Canada – $17.30 / hour
UPS is looking for a Vehicle Shifter to join its team in Barrie, Ontario. This is a permanent part-time position where you will be responsible for unloading packages from UPS vehicles, moving vehicles around the property, and washing vehicles, along with other related tasks as directed by supervisors. This is a hands-on role with hours from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Friday, at a pay rate of $17.30 per hour. The ideal candidate must be available to work up to 25 hours per week and hold a valid Ontario G2/G driver’s license.
About the Role
As a Vehicle Shifter, your primary responsibilities will include unloading packages manually or using machines, scanning and sorting packages, and repositioning vehicles according to the dock plan. You will also maintain a clean work environment and report any malfunctions to supervisors. UPS provides paid training and offers opportunities for advancement to motivated individuals.
In this role, you are expected to adhere to company safety rules, execute safe driving methods, and work in various environments, including warehouses or outdoor settings, where you may be exposed to changing or extreme temperatures.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload packages manually or using a machine from UPS vehicles.
- Scan and sort packages based on the UPS department and destination.
- Reposition vehicles following the established dock plan.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work environment during or after operations.
- Follow safety rules and safe driving methods as established by the company.
- Assist with organizing equipment setup and preparing work zones.
Basic Qualifications
UPS requires the following basic qualifications for the Vehicle Shifter role:
- Valid Ontario G2/G driver’s license.
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week.

- Starting pay of $17.30 per hour, with automatic progression up to $30.13 per hour based on the Union Collective Agreement.
