About the Role: Preloader

The Preloader position at UPS Edmonton centres on the safe and efficient handling of packages throughout the facility. You’ll be responsible for loading packages into trailers and package cars, unloading incoming shipments, scanning and sorting parcels, receiving and stocking goods, and operating heavy machinery where required. Every shift contributes directly to ensuring customers receive their deliveries on time.

UPS places a strong emphasis on proper package handling methods and workplace safety. You’ll be trained on UPS-specific procedures and are expected to follow them consistently. The role requires flexibility with shift hours depending on package volume, and runs Monday to Friday, five days per week. Teamwork and reliability are essential in keeping the operation running smoothly.

Responsibilities

Each shift as a Preloader involves a mix of physical tasks that keep UPS’s Edmonton facility operating on schedule. From handling incoming freight to loading outbound package cars, your work directly impacts the reliability of package delivery across the region.

• Load and unload UPS packages into trailers and package cars safely and efficiently
• Scan and sort parcels accurately to ensure proper routing and delivery
• Receive and stock incoming shipments within the warehouse
• Learn and apply UPS’s standardized package handling methods
• Operate heavy machinery as required to complete warehouse tasks
• Read and memorize postal codes to support accurate sorting
• Perform additional tasks as assigned within the fast-paced warehouse environment

Requirements / Skills

UPS is looking for someone who is physically capable, detail-oriented, and dependable. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a warehouse setting, can handle the physical demands of the job, and is willing to learn UPS’s specific procedures from day one.

• Physical fitness: ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (32 kg) regularly throughout each shift
• Postal code knowledge: ability to read and memorize postal codes for accurate sorting
• Schedule flexibility: availability to work Monday to Friday, with hours that may vary based on package volume
• Reliability: commitment to working 5 days per week consistently
• Warehouse experience: prior experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is preferred but not required
