About the Role: Package Handler – Hub Day
As a Package Handler, you’ll be right in the action — loading and unloading trailers, sorting packages, scanning shipments, and making sure everything is stocked and moving in the right direction. You may also operate heavy machinery to support your tasks. Responsibilities
Day-to-day, a Package Handler at UPS is responsible for keeping the hub running smoothly by ensuring packages are accurately loaded, unloaded, sorted, and tracked. Every task plays a direct role in UPS’s ability to deliver on time and meet customer expectations.
- Load and unload UPS packages into trailers or package cars efficiently and safely
- Scan and sort packages according to destination and routing requirements
- Stock packages in designated areas to maintain organized hub operations
- Learn and execute UPS’s established package handling methods and procedures
- Operate heavy machinery as required to support warehouse tasks
- Memorize postal codes to ensure accurate package routing and sorting
- Perform additional tasks as assigned within the fast-paced hub environment
Requirements / Skills
UPS is looking for candidates who are physically capable, reliable, and detail-oriented. Since the role involves handling packages of varying sizes and working in a dynamic warehouse setting, being comfortable with physical labour and flexible scheduling is key to succeeding here.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (32 kg) consistently throughout the shift
- Ability to read and memorize postal codes for accurate package sorting
