About the Role: Optical Student

Responsibilities

This position covers a range of tasks across member service, optical fitting, and department upkeep. Each responsibility plays a direct role in ensuring members leave satisfied and the optical department runs smoothly.

  • Assist members in choosing eyeglass frames and lens options with prompt, courteous service
  • Process transactions accurately, including cash, cheque, credit, and debit payments following proper procedures
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and finger bending, where permitted under provincial law and under the supervision of a licensed Optician
  • Order equipment, merchandise, and supplies by entering data into the computer system
  • Stock merchandise and supplies while following department procedures for production, record keeping, merchandising, and product storage
  • Clean the department through spraying, wiping, mopping, emptying trash, and operating the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
  • Follow all safety and security procedures throughout daily tasks
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are currently enrolled in and registered with an applicable provincial college for optical training. A professional and service-oriented attitude is key, as this role involves regular direct interaction with members.
