About the Role: Maintenance Assistant

Responsibilities

This role covers a broad range of facility maintenance and janitorial duties within Costco’s Optical Lab. Keeping operations running smoothly depends on the Maintenance Assistant staying on top of routine tasks while responding quickly to unexpected situations. Here’s what a typical day might look like:

  • Clean floors throughout offices, break rooms, restrooms, and the production floor using a scrubber, changing water frequently to minimize dust
  • Empty trash from designated areas and operate trash and cardboard compactors
  • Respond promptly to spills and other immediate cleaning needs throughout the facility
  • Maintain fixtures by cleaning light fixtures, changing light bulbs, washing windows, upper walls, and ceilings, and vacuuming rafters periodically
  • Assist with grounds maintenance including blowing leaves, picking up litter, roof checks, snow and ice removal, painting, and concrete floor repairs
  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed and receive merchandise into the appropriate department
  • Manage inventory and perform both internal and external purchases for the facility
  • Operate the maintenance system (Interal) and follow all Optical Lab safety and security procedures
  • Provide courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers, and assist in other areas of the lab as required

Requirements / Skills
