Global Business Development Leader, Research, AWS Global Education, WWPS – Amazon – Montreal, QC
AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is seeking an experienced and innovative leader to drive revenue, adoption, and growth across the research segment. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in developing and managing cloud-native digital solutions and bringing them to market.
You will work with customers, field staff, and senior leaders, engaging in cross-functional collaboration across more than 40 countries. Your role will involve driving AWS’s research strategy, creating business cases, and influencing sector leaders to accelerate innovation.
As a key leader, you will share knowledge across the international education team and mobilize the organization to drive long-term success. This role is ideal for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and can navigate the complexities of a global technology business.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) works with higher education institutions, research labs, and researchers worldwide to offer cost-effective, scalable, and secure compute, storage, and database capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the drafting and communication of AWS’s research strategy.
- Develop business cases for solutions with international applicability.
- Share knowledge effectively across the international education team.
- Engage and influence sector leaders to drive AWS adoption and growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, business development, and other teams to bring solutions to market.
Compensation & Benefits

Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.
- 7+ years of professional or military experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a founder or executive in related segments.
- Experience selling to Fortune 1000 or Global 2000 organizations.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native digital solutions and their application in research.
Working Conditions
This role is based in Montreal, QC, with options for a flexible, hybrid work model. You’ll work with global teams and may require occasional travel.
The role demands a high level of expertise in cloud solutions and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
