Responsibilities

The Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws plays a hands-on role in keeping the store safe every single day. From active surveillance to working alongside law enforcement, each responsibility below is designed to reduce risk, deter theft, and support a secure retail environment for both staff and shoppers.

• Prevent theft and fraud by maintaining a visible, professional presence throughout the store and deterring policy violations before they escalate
• Apprehend offenders safely and lawfully, following all applicable company procedures and legal requirements
• Conduct investigations — both internal and external — gathering and analyzing evidence to support outcomes
• Collaborate with law enforcement when required, acting as the bridge between store operations and external authorities
• Reduce shrink by partnering with store leadership to identify loss trends and implement targeted prevention strategies
• Monitor CCTV and surveillance systems to track activity and gather evidence when needed
• Ensure compliance with company security standards and provincial regulations on every shift
• Adapt to a dynamic schedule, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends as part of a 40-hour work week

Requirements / Skills

• Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence — required, along with a working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, and related legislation
• CCTV and surveillance experience — comfort with monitoring tools and the ability to extract and analyze footage effectively
• Microsoft Office proficiency — specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for reporting and communication
• Strong communication skills — approachable, confident, and respectful in all interactions with staff, customers, and law enforcement
• Integrity and accountability — a high level of trustworthiness and a proactive mindset when it comes to problem-solving
• Retail experience — prior work in grocery, pharmacy, or other high-volume retail settings is considered a definite asset
• Flexibility — open availability including evenings and weekends, with the ability to adapt to a varied shift schedule
