About the Role: Asset Protection Representative
As an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws, you’ll be responsible for detecting and deterring theft, fraud, and shrink across the retail location. You’ll use your knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Trespass to Property Act, and your powers of arrest to respond appropriately when situations arise. Your ability to compile and present evidence for court or arbitration proceedings will be a key part of your value to the team.
Beyond enforcement, this role involves a significant coaching and mentorship component. You’ll build strong partnerships with store management through regular meetings and huddles, guiding colleagues on Asset Protection policies and procedures. Participation in community events and store-level audits rounds out a well-rounded, community-engaged position. The schedule requires availability across a variety of shifts — days, evenings, nights, and weekends — within a 40-hour work week.

Responsibilities
As an Asset Protection Representative, your day-to-day work keeps the store safe and operationally sound. You’ll be the link between store management, law enforcement, and Asset Protection policies — ensuring every colleague understands their role in minimizing loss and maintaining a secure shopping environment.
- Deter, detect, and apprehend individuals involved in theft and fraud within retail locations
- Collaborate with fellow APRs to investigate provincial or national organized retail crime (ORC) cases
- Liaise with local police services on a regular basis to support enforcement efforts
- Conduct internal investigations, compiling and presenting evidence for court or arbitration proceedings
- Identify shrink opportunities within operational core compliance and develop mitigation strategies
- Build store partnerships through management meetings and huddles; coach colleagues on Asset Protection policies
- Participate in store-level audits to ensure ongoing compliance and loss prevention standards
- Engage in community events as a representative of the Loblaws Asset Protection team
