About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

As an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws, your primary focus will be on deterring, detecting, and apprehending individuals involved in theft and fraud within retail locations. You’ll collaborate with fellow APRs on organized retail crime (ORC) investigations at the provincial and national level, and maintain regular contact with local police services. Compiling and presenting evidence for court or arbitration proceedings is a key part of your investigative responsibilities.

Beyond investigations, you’ll play an active role in building store partnerships through management meetings and coaching sessions. You’ll help colleagues understand and apply Asset Protection policies and procedures, participate in store-level audits, and contribute to community events. This is a full-time, 40-hour work week role with rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws combines active surveillance, investigation, and team collaboration. From watching for in-store theft to compiling evidence for legal proceedings, your actions directly protect the store’s assets and support a safe shopping environment.

  • Deter, detect, and apprehend individuals involved in theft and fraud within retail locations
  • Collaborate with other APRs to investigate provincial or national organized retail crime (ORC) cases
  • Liaise regularly with local police services to support investigations and community safety
  • Conduct internal investigations, compiling and presenting evidence for court or arbitration purposes
  • Identify shrink opportunities through operational core compliance monitoring
  • Coach and mentor colleagues on Asset Protection policies and procedures through management meetings and huddles
  • Participate in store-level audits to ensure compliance and identify risks
  • Engage in community events as a representative of the Loblaws Asset Protection team
  • Work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends as part of a 40-hour work week

Requirements / Skills

  • Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence is required (Loblaws reimburses annual licence costs)

  • Working knowledge of Windows-based applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
