About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

As an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws, you’ll be responsible for deterring and detecting theft and fraud, conducting both internal and external investigations, and collaborating with local law enforcement when needed. You’ll work a 40-hour work week across a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, making flexibility a key part of the job.

Beyond investigations, you’ll play an important role in coaching and mentoring colleagues on Asset Protection policies, participating in store-level audits, and supporting community engagement initiatives. Your ability to build strong partnerships with store management and work both independently and collaboratively will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be the frontline of loss prevention and asset protection for a major Canadian retailer. Every shift requires a sharp eye, strong judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and confidence.

  • Deter, detect, and apprehend individuals involved in theft and fraud within retail locations
  • Collaborate with other APRs to investigate provincial or national organized retail crime (ORC) cases
  • Liaise regularly with local police services to support investigations and apprehensions
  • Conduct internal investigations, compile evidence, and present findings for court or arbitration proceedings
  • Identify shrink opportunities within operational core compliance to reduce product loss
  • Build and maintain partnerships with store management through meetings, huddles, and ongoing communication
  • Coach and mentor colleagues on Asset Protection policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Participate in store-level audits and community events as required

Requirements / Skills

  • Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence — required to work in this role (annual licence fees reimbursed)
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, and Powers of Arrest
  • Experience with CCTV and/or surveillance systems as well as Windows-based applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanour when interacting with colleagues, management, and the public
  • High degree of initiative and integrity — essential for operating independently in a dynamic environment
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
