This isn’t a behind-the-scenes position — you’ll be actively present on the floor, conducting surveillance and investigations, collaborating with store leadership and law enforcement, and helping build a safer environment for both customers and colleagues across grocery and pharmacy retail settings.
About the Role: Asset Protection Representative
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for preventing theft, fraud, and policy violations through a visible, professional presence in-store. When incidents occur, you’ll follow all company and legal procedures to safely and lawfully manage them — including detaining offenders when required. Your investigative work will involve gathering and analyzing evidence, and working directly with law enforcement as needed.
You’ll also partner with store leadership to identify loss trends, support shrink-reduction strategies, and ensure ongoing compliance with security policies and provincial regulations. The role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.

Responsibilities
As an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws, your responsibilities span deterrence, investigation, and collaboration. You’ll be a critical line of defence in maintaining a safe and secure retail environment while supporting store operations and minimizing loss.
- Prevent theft and fraud by maintaining a visible, professional presence throughout the store
- Detain offenders safely and lawfully in accordance with company procedures and applicable legislation
- Conduct internal and external investigations, including gathering and analyzing evidence
- Collaborate with law enforcement when required to support investigations and incident resolution
- Partner with store leadership to identify loss trends and implement shrink-reduction strategies
- Ensure compliance with company standards, security policies, and provincial regulations
- Adapt to a dynamic schedule and respond effectively to new challenges in a fast-paced retail setting
Requirements / Skills

- Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence is required, along with knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, and related legislation
- CCTV and surveillance experience along with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Exceptional communication skills — approachable, confident, and respectful in all interactions
- High level of integrity and initiative — accountable, trustworthy, and solution-focused
- Experience in grocery, pharmacy, or high-volume retail environments is considered an asset
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and will be required to complete a criminal background check
