Amazon.com.ca, ULC is seeking a full-time Applied Science Intern for our PhD Student Science Recruiting program in Vancouver, BC. As an Applied Science Intern, you will own the design and development of end-to-end systems while working on cutting-edge technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, automated reasoning, and robotics.
This internship offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, with projects that directly contribute to Amazon’s customer-obsessed scientific innovation. You will gain experience in building production-level systems, creating technical roadmaps, and developing solutions that scale across Amazon’s operations.

Key Responsibilities for the Applied Science Internship Role
As an Applied Science Intern, your key responsibilities will include:
- Design and develop end-to-end systems that leverage machine learning, NLP, and computer vision techniques.
- Collaborate closely with Amazon scientists to create scalable solutions to complex problems using massive datasets.
- Create technical roadmaps and contribute to production-level projects that support Amazon Science initiatives.
- Work with cross-functional teams and engage with diverse groups of people to solve challenging business problems.
Minimum Qualifications for the Applied Science Internship Role
To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Able to work 40 hours/week and commit to a 12-week internship.
- Willingness to relocate to where the internship is based (relocation and housing assistance available).
- Experience with programming or scripting languages like Python, Java, C, or C++.
Preferred Qualifications for the Applied Science Internship Role
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Enrollment in an academic program physically located in Canada.
